Senior Spotlight: Andre Means Prepares for His Final Homecoming

Multiple

Maȟpíya Lúta — October 2, 2025
This week carries extra weight for senior Andre Means. As he prepares to suit up for his final Homecoming game, the emotions are real.
“This week is personal because it’s my last Homecoming game and I don’t wanna end my high school career on a losing team,” Andre shared. “Not only does it decide our playoff seat, it is also a big game for the school and school pride.”

Leadership on the Field
Andre has been a steady force on the defensive line, approaching every snap with the same drive and discipline.
“I line up with the same mindset every snap—make a play and do my job as a defensive end,” he said. “I also see myself as a leader so I make sure my guys are ready and have good energy. Any play can be a big play if you’re not prepared, so having a ready mindset every snap and being 100% is important.”

Preparing for St. Francis
As Maȟpíya Lúta prepares to take on St. Francis under the Homecoming lights, Andre knows the team must stay focused.
“We treat all of our games with the same intensity. St. Francis is just as big as any other team in the conference. We’ve mainly been focusing on morale and being positive when the game starts to turn against us. Our team has improved massively since the beginning of the season, especially on offense. Our offense adapts to whatever situation is going on, and I trust our coaches to make the right decision to push us in the right direction.”

Lessons From the Journey
Reflecting on his time in Maȟpíya Lúta football, Andre carries with him lessons that go beyond the game.
“Football has taught me many lessons and made me many friends along the way. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is time stops for no one. It felt like yesterday I had all four years, now I’m down to three guaranteed games. Do what you can with the time you have left, but don’t forget to have fun.”

As he takes the field Thursday night, Andre Means will not only be playing for a win, he’ll be representing the pride of his school, his teammates, and the journey that shaped him.
