Maȟpíya Lúta High School is excited to welcome back BJ Braveheart as head football coach for his third consecutive season. With a mix of experienced seniors and eager underclassmen, the team is shaping up to be both skilled and hungry for success on the field.
“Our biggest strength right now is that we have a lot of younger players who are skilled and eager to play football,” Coach Braveheart said. “We do need more linemen, both offensively and defensively, but I’m excited to be back and glad to have the talented players that I have now.”
He highlighted several players expected to step into leadership roles this season, including Andre Means, Tima Romero, Braylon Little, Baily Little and JJ Lacey. A new addition, running back Julian Tonche, brings fresh talent to the squad and adds depth to the lineup.
For Coach Braveheart, the motivation goes beyond wins and losses. “The excitement of watching the team play and seeing them improve with each game keeps me motivated,” he shared. “But also, being that healthy, sober role model and father figure for the students is inspiring.”
When he isn’t coaching, Coach Braveheart enjoys traveling and sharing his voice at powwows, ceremonies, and other cultural events, connecting with his community through music.
With a mix of new talent, experienced leaders, and a coach who is both a mentor and role model, Maȟpíya Lúta football is looking forward to an exciting season on and off the field.
