Needless to say, our athletes showed up in a big way at the Mahpiya Luta Invite.
It marked our highest number of placers in a tournament this season and our highest number of champions, with three wrestlers bringing home titles. The performance reflected growth, preparation, and confidence across both the boys and girls teams.
On the boys’ side, Tony Kills In Water delivered a breakout performance in his senior season, earning 1st place and proudly finishing at the top of the podium in front of the home crowd. Javier Cruz added another championship with an electrifying performance that included highlight-reel throws, while also earning the Sportsmanship Award. Joe Richards battled his way to a strong 2nd-place finish, and Braylon Conroy secured 4th place.
The girls continued their momentum as well. Tylyn Eagle Bull, wrestling as an 8th grader, captured 1st place and tied for Most Outstanding Female Wrestler, continuing to build an impressive foundation for her high school career. Azilya Iron Eyes and Chalina Ghost each earned 3rd-place finishes, while Angela Davis and Paeton Janis added 4th-place performances.
Beyond the podium finishes, the day represented something bigger. It was our largest showing in several years, with teams traveling from as far as Scottsbluff to compete. Our wrestlers competed hard, supported one another, and represented the program with pride.
The girls will compete at Newcastle and the boys will travel to Hill City this Saturday.
