Maȟpíya Lúta Wikȟóskalaka Tȟabkápsilyapi Claim 2nd Place at Phillip Invite

Multiple

The Maȟpíya Lúta Wikȟóškalaka Tȟabkapsílyapi traveled to Phillip on Friday and came home with a 2nd place team finish.

The conditions were far from ideal. Cold temperatures and steady rain greeted the golfers when they arrived, making for a tough day on the course. But the Tȟabkapsílyapi didn’t let the weather slow them down.

Brooklyn Twiss turned in one of the standout individual performances of the day, carding a 92 to earn 3rd place. Her steady round was a bright spot in difficult conditions and helped set the tone for the team’s overall effort. Close behind her was Sarayah Weston, who finished 4th place with a 95, another consistent, competitive score that contributed to the team’s strong showing. Kimimela Rama added a 103 to the scorecard, and Ava Little rounded out the girls’ efforts with a 120.

The boys brought their own energy to Phillip as well. Christian Jack led the way with a 96, showing poise through the wet and cold. Kendall LeBeau shot a 120 to complete the team’s scorecard.

What made Friday’s result especially meaningful was the growth it represented. Just one week earlier, the Tȟabkapsílyapi competed in Wall for their season opener. The improvement from that first meet to this one was noticeable, a sign that this team is finding its footing and building real momentum as the season gets underway.

With the early results pointing in the right direction, the Tȟabkapsílyapi will look to carry that confidence into their next outing, scheduled for Thursday at the Elks Golf Course in Rapid.
