Last Friday, January 31st, Maȟpíya Lúta Tȟéča Wačhípi Okȟólakičhiye traveled to Wanblee for the Tȟašúŋke Wítko Owáyawa na Tȟéča Wačhípi Okȟólakičhiye, held at the Crazy Horse Gymnasium. This wačhípi-only event was an exciting opportunity for Maȟpíya Lúta’s young dancers to showcase their skills in competition for the first time since the Lakota Nation Invitational (LNI) wačhípi.
Twelve dedicated dancers represented Maȟpíya Lúta, eager to take the floor and compete against talented dancers from other schools. The students delivered outstanding performances, earning top finishes across multiple categories:
🏆 Georgianna – 2nd place, 3rd-5th Grade Girls Jingle
🏆 Blake – 1st place, 6th-8th Grade Boys Traditional
🏆 Bailey – 1st place, 6th-8th Grade Girls Jingle
🏆 Bernadine Red Cloud-Garnier – 2nd place, 9th-12th Grade Fancy
🏆 Athena White Elk – 2nd place, 9th-12th Grade Fancy
Maȟpíya Lúta Tȟéča Wačhípi Okȟólakičhiye will next compete at Wázi Aháŋhaŋ Owáyawa on February 28th.
