Multiple

Academic Excellence Meets Athletic Discipline
Maȟpíya Lúta senior Braylon Little capped off his final football season with one of the most prestigious recognitions in South Dakota high school sports , Academic All-State and Black Hills Academic All Conference. The award reflects years of dedication in both the classroom and on the field.
“Being named Academic All-State feels good because it shows the work I put in on both sides, school and sports,” Braylon said. “It reminds me that staying disciplined pays off. It’s something I’m proud of.”

Overcoming Injury With Patience and Mental Toughness
Braylon’s season took an unexpected turn when he suffered a dislocated elbow. Instead of letting the setback define his senior year, he approached it with calmness and resilience.
“When I dislocated my elbow, my first thought was honestly just, ‘Man, not again,’” he shared. “It was frustrating, but I tried to stay calm and trust the trainers. Recovery hasn’t been easy, but I’ve stayed disciplined and kept working with what I can do. It’s definitely teaching me patience and mental toughness.”

A Season Filled With Lessons in Adversity
Unable to compete at full strength, Braylon learned to lead in new ways, by showing up consistently, supporting his teammates, and pushing himself through rehab.
“This season taught me a lot about handling adversity and staying consistent,” he said. “Even on tough days, I learned how to show up for my team and keep my mindset right. The moments that stand out the most are the small ones, pushing through rehab and watching and supporting my team’s success. Those are the things that really built me this year.”

Looking Ahead: Growth, Health, and Academic Strength
Football has shaped Braylon in lasting ways, teaching him habits that extend far beyond the sport.
“Football has shaped the way I work and how I deal with challenges, both in school and in life,” he said. “It teaches you to stay focused and push through things even when they’re tough. Moving forward, I want to keep growing, stay strong academically, and get fully healthy. I’m using this whole experience to come back even better.”

Braylon Little’s Academic All-State honor reflects not just academic achievement, but character, resilience, and the determination to rise through adversity. As he closes out his high school football career, he leaves a strong example for the student-athletes who follow.
